Suffered a heart attack whilst playing golf on April 21st 2000. By good fortune a trained nurse was on hand to provide First Aid and call an ambulance. He was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where clinical investigation revealed the presence of significant Coronary Heart Disease. His condition was severe enough to confine him to the hospital for four weeks, during which time he had a Triple Heart Bypass operation. He started exercising in the community with a local Phase IV Exercise Class in August 2000, two months after being discharged from hospital. Today he continues to exercise weekly with the GCRA class in Turriff. When not cracking the whip at his management team, golfing or doing anything else to avoid ‘the garden,’ Robert likes to listen to music, and in particular Mozart’s 21st Piano Concerto. A far cry from his ‘Beatles’ collection of the early sixties don’t you think! Forgive the jibe Robert, after all, ‘We love you yeah, yeah, yeah!’
