Leader Training in use of Defibrillators
GCRA recently purchased 6 state-of-the-art Cardiac Science Automatic External Defibrillators (Heart-start Machines ) with a view to ensuring that all of our Phase IV CR Class Leaders are equipped with such a machine and are fully trained in its use. It is also GCRA policy to try to ensure that wherever a Phase IV CR class is being run under GCRA sponsorship one of these state-of-the art Automatic Defibrillators is available. GCRA in association with the Aberdeen Training Unit of the St. Andrew’s Ambulance Association have organised a series of such training sessions in RGU to provide training and certification in the use of such defibrillators. Our existing BACR leaders and the 11 prospective new BACR leaders have just completed this training (which also includes CPR) for certification to the national standards set by the Resuscitation Council of the UK.
