Made steady progress up the promotional ladder to the post of Accountant at the Forres branch in 1978 and his first appointment as a Branch manager at Cruden Bay in 1988. After an interesting and satisfying career at branches throughout Scotland, George elected to take early retirement in 1997 whilst serving as Manager at the Insch branch.

He continues to practice his numerical skills as a part time accounts assistant with a local Chartered Accountants office.

Other interests include:

Treasurer of Turriff Bowling Club
Treasurer of Oldmeldrum Sports Committee.

He is an Associate of the Institute of Banking in Scotland – AIB (Scotland)

A keen sportsman all of his life George engaged in any sport involving a ball. You name it and he has played it. A founder member of Huntly RFC in 1968 George turned out for the team for 20 years man and boy !
A little older , slower and dare we say wiser now, he continues his love of ball sports albeit through the somewhat eccentric shape of a bowling ball. Other than that he enjoys watching sport on television.
