Born1951 and raised in Aberdeen.
Married with one son.
Suffered chest pain whilst on holiday during November 2002.On returning home had a full medical check including an ECG and was declared fit. Had more chest pain two weeks later while working in Singapore. Admitted to local hospital for exploratory Angiogram. Transferred to Singapore General Hospital the following day to have 3 drug releasing stents placed to allow him to fly home. Underwent Triple Bypass surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in April 2003.
Participated in hospital based Phase 3 Cardiac Rehabilitation programme in October 2003 and went on to join a Phase 4 exercise class in the community in April 2004.
Exercises once a week but walks for approximately 3 miles every day. Now enjoying life much better than he did 3 years ago. |
Elected to GCRA Board of Management at AGM in October 2004
Educated at Aberdeen Grammar School 1961-1967.
Started working career with Aberdeen City Council but decided in 1968 that his future lay in ‘crunching ‘ numbers.
From 1969 until 1976 practiced as an accountant within the Fish Processing Industry then took the silver dollar on offer from the Oil Industry. Various management appointments followed before finally being appointed CEO of a company of ship owners in 2002.
Decided to retire from full time work after Bypass Surgery in 2003

Chairman of Montrose Chamber of Commerce.
Non-Executive Director of INSTEP ( a training company )
Committee member of Institute of Directors, Aberdeen branch.
Hobbies include Rotary Club, his gleaming MGB Roadster and 3 motorcycles no less. He sounds like a man in a hurry , although he is considering taking up golf just to slow down a little. No doubt with his obvious passion for motive power he will then invest in a Power Caddycart, or two, or even three !
