Educated at Aberdeen Grammar School 1961-1967.

Started working career with Aberdeen City Council but decided in 1968 that his future lay in ‘crunching ‘ numbers.
From 1969 until 1976 practiced as an accountant within the Fish Processing Industry then took the silver dollar on offer from the Oil Industry. Various management appointments followed before finally being appointed CEO of a company of ship owners in 2002.

Decided to retire from full time work after Bypass Surgery in 2003

Other interests include:

Council Member of Dundee Chamber of Commerce.
Chairman of Montrose Chamber of Commerce.
Non-Executive Director of INSTEP ( a training company )
Committee member of Institute of Directors, Aberdeen branch.

Hobbies include Rotary Club, his gleaming MGB Roadster and 3 motorcycles no less. He sounds like a man in a hurry , although he is considering taking up golf just to slow down a little. No doubt with his obvious passion for motive power he will then invest in a Power Caddycart, or two, or even three !
