Benstroll Walks & Barbeque
voted a MAJOR SUCCESS !!!

Thanks to the tremendous support and efforts of the majority of the membership, the first official GCRA
Fundraising Event involving all 30 of our exercise classes was a runaway success. On what was one of the few dry and sunny Sundays of the year, the members voted with their feet and turned out in force to support their own organisation and raise money to help offset the ever increasing cost of running
the exercise classes.

Walkers queingPrior to the event our estimates suggested we could expect around 170 members to participate in the walks, but on the day a whopping 262 turned up !

They were all there, Mums, Dads, Sons, Daughters, Grandma's, Granddad's, Grandchildren, even the family pets, all doing their own little bit to support our Association, its members and our exercise classes.

So off we all went a-wandering along the mountain track and as we walked we had to sing with our knapsacks on our backs "Val -deri, Val-dera V ................... ha - ha - ha - ha - ha

All of the walkers completed the route and happily no one got lost or went missing although we did get reports of one strange looking little fellow dressed in boots and a brightly coloured beanie hat carrying a pick axe on his shoulder, heading up for the ' Mither Tap ' singing something like " Hi ho, Hi ho, its off to work we go "

If anyone has further information on this person would they please phone Miss S. White on 00 7777776
The Barbeque provided by Harry Fraser Catering went down a treat with a choice of tasty Burgers or bangers which were readily consumed by the returning walkers. Due to the large turnout and high demand for a BBQ treat our Hon. Sec., Bert Hosie, had to dash back to Inverurie to obtain additional supplies to feed the multitude.

Members and friends from classes throughout the Northeast got together at the BBQ and shared stories and experiences as they mingled after the walk.

Thanks to all the members and friends and families who made the day such a resounding success. 'Lets do it again' Last but by no means least a big, big thank you to Bert Hosie for putting the whole thing together and organizing such a marvelous event . A big thank you also to the lads and lasses who marshaled and helped out around the Ben - Audrey Hosie, Kay Robb, Lorraine Innes, Wendy Gray, Bert Lyon, Mike Page, David Hekelaar and Dougal Ross.
