Fundraising Sponsored Walks and BBQ
SUNDAY 31st AUGUST at 2.00pm

It is open to all. So members, bring the family and friends and have a great day out in the fresh air and enjoy the scenery.

This year we have a ‘BOUNCY CASTLE’ to give the kids some fun Once again Harry Fraser will provide juicy Burgers and Bangers from the BBQ. Yes, you are allowed to eat Burgers and Bangers but only now and again so...
make SUNDAY 31st AUGUST your ‘Once a Year Day’ and enjoy the BBQ and have a FUN DAY!

Fundraising

Although the day is intended as a fun day out for members to meet, greet and share experiences, we should remember that the underlying purpose of the Benstroll is to raise much needed funds for our association now that the Big Lottery Fund no longer supports us.

So pick up your Sponsorship Sheet and get family, friends and work colleagues to support your effort and pledge some cash.

EVENT DETAILS

The event will take place at the ‘Back O’ Bennachie’ Forestry Commission Walks’, just beyond the village of AB OYNE on the B9002, which is accessible from the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road, approximately 6 miles North of Inverurie on SUNDAY 31st AUGUST at 2.00pm.

Walker registration opens at 1.30pm. and the walk commences at 2.00pm.

For safety reasons no walkers will be allowed on the route prior to this time and all walkers must follow the sign posted routes.

Two walks will be available to suit the needs of most people:

(a) A short walk of about 2 miles mainly on open Forestry gravel roads of shallow incline but also through a wooded track in the final stages on the return to the finish line check-in.

(b) A longer walk of about 4.25 miles initially on the open Forestry gravel roads but latterly through wooded forest paths on an incline rising to approx. 300 feet from the starting point.

ENTRY FEES

The Entry Fees, which includes the Barbeque, are £5.00 for adults and £3.00 for children of 12 years and under. Being a natural woodland site, there are no facilities other than toilets and we would highly recommend that you take with you folding or portable canvas chairs for your own comfort at the Barbeque after the walk is over.

  • Sign post and Route Marshals - 4
  • General assistants - 2
  • First Aiders - 4 (Instructors with Defibrillators)

YOU WON’T GET PAID BUT YOU WILL GET A ‘FREE’ BBQ !!!
