BACR Training Course for New Phase IV CR Exercise Leaders

As reported in earlier Newsletters, GCRA plans to establish a BACR Phase IV CR Leaders training course in Aberdeen came to fruition in August, when, in association with the Faculty of Health and Social Science in the Robert Gordon University the first course commenced with a class of seventeen participants, eleven of whom were selected for sponsorship by GCRA. This course was run jointly by BACR and lecturing staff of the RGU who are now accredited to contribute to future BACR courses in Aberdeen. The purpose of the course was to provide a new group of fully qualified Phase IV CR Exercise leaders in line with the policy of NHS Grampian for referral to Phase IV CR Exercise Classes. The course is due to finish in mid-December and it is envisaged that once the eleven sponsored participants qualify, GCRA anticipate establishing a number of new CR exercise classes in strategic areas of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire early in 2006 staffed by the newly qualified leaders.

Any GP’s Health Centre Staff who are interested in liaising with us about establishing new classes in areas of need should contact us as soon as possible.
