SUE did it for GCRA
Saturday 28th April 2007

Well she did it as she said she would! Sue Leftwich exercise class leader at Banchory and Aboyne competed and completed the 10km Balmoral Road Race and in a personal best time, knocking 50 seconds off her time for last year. Well done Sue, not bad for a lass in her ‘fortysomethingth year !

In actual fact Sue finished in the top 20% or so of the 1534 runners and better still, came 4th of the 75 runners in the ‘fortysomething’ female age group.

The race was run in a blaze of un-seasonal sunshine and a temperature around 19 C which the runners could have done well without. The vast crowd of spectators however lazing around in short sleeved shirts, sun hats and shades thought the weather was ‘just grand.’

Said Sue, “Improving on my personal best time was never part of the plan and the heat made it much more difficult especially the uphill sections, but I just pressed on motivated solely by the carrot of hopefully raising funds for GCRA. The incentive was there and I knew that I just had to do it for the members.”

Well you certainly did it Sue and we are proud of you and extremely grateful for the
magnificent sum of £600 you raised and so generously donated to GCRA. Thank you for the effort, time and commitment you put in to the event on our behalf.

Thank you also to all those who generously supported and sponsored Sue including Steve Owen of ‘Snappy-Snaps’ in Aberdeen who printed the T-shirt she wore on the day.
